What I offer

With over 30 years of proven success as a college teacher, research mathematician and professional tutor, I offer tutoring for all high school and college math and physics courses, except statistics, and for the math and physics sections of standardized exams.  For students in Westchester County, NY, including Croton-on-Hudson, Ossining, Briarcliff Manor, Pleasantville, Scarsdale, Chappaqua, Somers and Yorktown Heights, I provide in-person tutoring; for students located outside Westchester County I provide online tutoring.

While many tutors are students themselves, I offer the perspective of a career educator and research mathematician. I don't just teach formulas; I teach students how to think critically and solve problems from the ground up. 

My approach goes beyond rote memorization, focusing on conceptual understanding.  Whether you are a high school student tackling algebra or AP calculus, or a college math, physics or engineering student, I can help.

• PhD in Mathematics from The University of Michigan, specializing in functional analysis and complex variables.

• IBM Research Leader: Former Research Staff Member and Manager at the IBM TJ Watson Research Center, where I published original research in programming correctness, telecommunications systems, stochastic processes and queueing theory while leading multidisciplinary teams of researchers and engineers to deliver technical innovations and IBM products.

• Innovator: Holder of six US patents and recipient of five IBM Outstanding Innovation Awards.

• Published Author: Dozens of peer-reviewed research publications.

• 30+ Years of Experience: Spanning private tutoring, college instruction, and professional research.
